    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Texas Council on Economic Education has
    1-3  displayed exemplary leadership and commitment to improving the
    1-4  economic literacy of the students, teachers, and citizens of Texas
    1-5  through its professional development programs for teachers; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The Texas Council on Economic Education has
    1-7  established a network of university centers dedicated to the
    1-8  empowerment of Texas teachers to personally understand the state's
    1-9  economy and our free enterprise system and enable them to give
   1-10  their students the basic tools necessary to become productive and
   1-11  competent citizens; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, The Texas Council on Economic Education is a
   1-13  nonpartisan partnership of business, labor, and education; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The Texas council and its university centers offer
   1-15  learning opportunities to every public and private school teacher
   1-16  in all 20 education service center regions in the state; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, The Texas council generates its support from
   1-18  corporations, foundations, and individuals; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, All of the council's programs are presented by the
   1-20  university centers to assure consistency with the legislated
   1-21  essential elements as prescribed by the Central Education Agency;
   1-22  now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-1  73rd Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Council on Economic
    2-2  Education and its university centers for their contribution to the
    2-3  future of Texas by their investment in the education of our most
    2-4  precious resource, our Texas youth, and extend to them sincere
    2-5  gratitude for their exemplary leadership and continued efforts
    2-6  to keep Texas competitive in today's worldwide economy; and,
    2-7  be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared and
    2-9  presented to the members of the board of the Texas Council on
   2-10  Economic Education and its constituents as an expression of high
   2-11  regard from the Texas Senate.
