No. 1087 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure 1-3 in recognizing Dr. Harry Shafer of College Station who was recently 1-4 named Archeologist of the Year by the Texas Historical Commission; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, Dr. Shafer received the award on May 1, 1993, 1-7 in Austin, during the commission's 1993 preservation conference; 1-8 and 1-9 WHEREAS, A professor of anthropology at Texas A&M University, 1-10 Harry Shafer is well known for his outstanding work in Belize with 1-11 the Mayan culture; and 1-12 WHEREAS, He is an expert in the field of anthropology and, 1-13 in addition to his work in Belize, is renowned for his work with 1-14 the prehistoric rock art in Texas and with the Mimbres culture 1-15 in New Mexico; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A highly respected anthropologist and professor, 1-17 Harry Shafer is a source of pride to Texas A&M University and to 1-18 the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-20 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Harry Shafer on his 1-21 exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to him for 1-22 earning the Archeologist of the Year award; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-1 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-2 _____________________________________ 2-3 President of the Senate 2-4 I hereby certify that the 2-5 above Resolution was adopted by 2-6 the Senate on May 27, 1993. 2-7 _____________________________________ 2-8 Secretary of the Senate 2-9 _____________________________________ 2-10 Member, Texas Senate
