    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           Angus Gray Nixon
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  family and many friends of Angus Gray Nixon of Bryan in mourning
    1-7  his death on May 10, 1993; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born in Wills Point in Van Zandt County, he
    1-9  attended Canton High School and earned a bachelor's degree in
   1-10  civil engineering from Texas A&M University; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Courageous and patriotic, Mr. Nixon served his
   1-12  country honorably during World War II as a second lieutenant in
   1-13  the United States Army; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Mr. Nixon was a Distinguished Student his senior
   1-15  year at Texas A&M and was working on a master's degree when he
   1-16  accepted a position with R. B. Butler, Incorporated; at the end
   1-17  of his illustrious career with R. B. Butler, Incorporated, he was
   1-18  vice-president of the company; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, he was an active member of the
   1-20  First Baptist Church where he was past president of the Business
   1-21  Men's Bible Class; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, An acknowledged civic leader, Mr. Nixon was active
   1-23  in the Bryan Chamber of Commerce where he was a member of the
    2-1  planning committee; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, A man of high principles and integrity, Mr. Nixon
    2-3  will be mourned by all who knew him; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, This respected gentleman's varied and notable
    2-5  achievements contributed greatly to the development and progress
    2-6  of his community; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, His wise counsel and good judgment will be greatly
    2-8  missed and remembered with gratitude by countless friends and
    2-9  relatives; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-11  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
   2-12  members of his family:  his wife, Arlene Steed; his daughter
   2-13  and son-in-law, Sharlene Nixon and Jack Allday; his grandchildren,
   2-14  Angus Taylor Allday and Meredith Stuart Allday; his brother and
   2-15  sister-in-law, Billy Pitt and Mary Nixon; and his sister,
   2-16  Louise Robinette; and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-18  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
   2-19  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
   2-20  it do so in memory of Angus Gray Nixon.
