No. 1093 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure 1-3 in recognizing Mrs. Deborah Thomas who was recently appointed 1-4 International Chairlady of the Youth Department of the Churches 1-5 of God in Christ, Incorporated, by Presiding Bishop L. H. Ford, 1-6 Chairman of the General Board; and 1-7 WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Thomas 1-8 is a renowned missionary and church leader who for many years has 1-9 been a member of The City of Refuge Church of God in Christ; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Mrs. Thomas faithfully serves as Chairlady of 1-11 Texas Northeast under the leadership of Bishop J. Neaul Haynes, 1-12 Jurisdictional Prelate and member of the General Board of the 1-13 Church of God in Christ International and Mrs. Odessa Newman, 1-14 State Supervisor of Women; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Respected for her outstanding work in the 1-16 religious community, Mrs. Thomas is being honored for her service 1-17 and devotion to her calling as well as for her appointment as 1-18 Chairlady of the Youth Department of the Churches of God in 1-19 Christ, Incorporated; and 1-20 WHEREAS, An exemplary lady and a source of strength to 1-21 many, Mrs. Thomas is a generous and dedicated religious leader, 1-22 as well as a wife, mother, and grandmother, and her many 1-23 accomplishments deserve recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 73rd Legislature, hereby join with the residents of Dallas 2-3 in declaring June 5, 1993, Deborah Thomas Day, in tribute to 2-4 Mrs. Thomas's outstanding achievements; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-6 for her as an expression of regard from the Texas Senate. 2-7 _____________________________________ 2-8 President of the Senate 2-9 I hereby certify that the 2-10 above Resolution was adopted by 2-11 the Senate on May 27, 1993. 2-12 _____________________________________ 2-13 Secretary of the Senate 2-14 _____________________________________ 2-15 Member, Texas Senate
