    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Fifty years ago, Mr. and Mrs. John McElvany of
    1-3  Berryville placed much faith and trust in the future which have
    1-4  been amply rewarded for they recently celebrated their 50th wedding
    1-5  anniversary; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Dorothy Arnold and John McElvany were married on
    1-7  March 23, 1943, at Bethany Baptist Church in Bakersfield, California;
    1-8  and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The world has changed greatly during
   1-10  the intervening years, yet Mr. and Mrs. McElvany have
   1-11  clung steadfastly to traditional family and moral values;
   1-12  and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Through the years, Dorothy and John have
   1-14  grown ever stronger in love and devotion as together they
   1-15  have experienced the joys and sorrows of everyday living; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. McElvany have been blessed
   1-17  with a wonderful family:  their children, Virginia Romsdahl,
   1-18  Barbara Myers, and John McElvany, Jr.; and their seven
   1-19  grandchildren; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, The love and respect they share are shining
   1-21  examples to all who are fortunate enough to know them; now,
   1-22  therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-1  73rd Legislature, hereby join with the relatives and friends
    2-2  of Mr. and Mrs. John McElvany in extending them best wishes and
    2-3  congratulations on their 50th wedding anniversary; and, be it further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-5  this distinguished couple as a memento of this grand occasion.
