    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Judge Dock Watson who recently received the President's
    1-4  Award for Outstanding Committee Work from the Deep East Texas
    1-5  Council of Governments; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The President's Award for Outstanding Committee
    1-7  Work is presented annually to a member of the Deep East Texas
    1-8  Council of Governments who has served on one or more committees
    1-9  with superior performance; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, This year's award honors Judge Watson for his
   1-11  uncommon dedication and leadership as a member of the Budget
   1-12  Committee and as chairman of the Education Committee; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, The County Judge of Shelby County, Dock Watson
   1-14  has lived in Shelby County since he was three years old; he
   1-15  earned a master of arts degree and worked in the field of
   1-16  education for many years as a classroom teacher, a principal,
   1-17  and a superintendent; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, A man of many talents and interests, Dock Watson
   1-19  also operated a dairy and throughout his life has been a highly
   1-20  respected leader in his community; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Judge Watson is an active member of a number of
   1-22  organizations and serves on the boards of several associations;
   1-23  he has served for two years on the executive board of the
    2-1  Deep East Texas Council of Governments and is a member of the
    2-2  executive board of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and the
    2-3  board of directors of Center Memorial Hospital; he is director of
    2-4  the Deep East Texas Electric Coop and is a member of Gideon and
    2-5  the Paxton United Methodist Church; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, A distinguished and exemplary gentleman,
    2-7  Judge Dock Watson generously devotes his time and energy to civic
    2-8  affairs and is a highly respected leader who has played a major
    2-9  role in the betterment of his community; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-11  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Judge Dock Watson for his
   2-12  exceptional accomplishments and extend appreciation to him for his
   2-13  many contributions to the Deep East Texas Council of Governments;
   2-14  and, be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-16  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
