No. 1131 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 honor Susie Tonymon for being the recipient of the Belle Chenault 1-4 Award of the American Medical Association; and 1-5 WHEREAS, An exemplary lady who has devoted an amazing amount 1-6 of energy and time to helping others, she is being recognized as 1-7 the physician's spouse who made a difference in the political 1-8 process; and 1-9 WHEREAS, She was the Tarrant County campaign coordinator for 1-10 Jane Nelson for State Senate and accomplished a 67 percent victory; 1-11 and 1-12 WHEREAS, Susie served with great distinction as 1-13 Senator Nelson's administrative assistant during the 1-14 73rd Legislature; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Susie Tonymon was born in Arkansas to parents who 1-16 had immigrated to the United States from the Guangdong Province of 1-17 China; and 1-18 WHEREAS, She attended college at the University of Arkansas 1-19 and graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor of science 1-20 degree in business administration; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Susie is the wife of Daniel Tonymon, 1-22 a practicing physician in Fort Worth; Dr. and Mrs. Tonymon have 1-23 two children, Kenneth Tonymon, a neurosurgeon in Jonesboro, Arkansas, 2-1 and Phyllis Tonymon, a doctoral candidate at the University of 2-2 Illinois; and 2-3 WHEREAS, A leader in her community, Mrs. Tonymon has 2-4 served as president of the Tarrant County Medical Society Auxiliary, 2-5 chairman of the Council on Legislation and Political Action of the 2-6 Texas Medical Association Alliance, and Northern Regional 2-7 Vice-President for Membership of the Texas Medical Association 2-8 Alliance; and 2-9 WHEREAS, A superbly talented organizer and a 2-10 politically savvy individual, Susie Tonymon has participated in 2-11 numerous campaigns and earned the June Bratcher Award as a tribute 2-12 to her many successes; and 2-13 WHEREAS, Susie Tonymon is an honest, forthright, tenacious, 2-14 and courageous woman who keeps her goals clearly in sight and who 2-15 has earned a well-deserved, larger-than-life status in Texas 2-16 politics; now, therefore, be it 2-17 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-18 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Susie Tonymon on her exceptional 2-19 accomplishments and extend congratulations to her for receiving the 2-20 prestigious Belle Chenault Award; and, be it further 2-21 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-22 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-23 _____________________________________ 2-24 President of the Senate 2-25 I hereby certify that the 3-1 above Resolution was adopted by 3-2 the Senate on May 28, 1993. 3-3 _____________________________________ 3-4 Secretary of the Senate 3-5 _____________________________________ 3-6 Member, Texas Senate
