    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Fifty years ago, on April 10, 1943,
    1-3  Mr. and Mrs. John C. "Jake" Armstrong of Rockdale, Texas, placed
    1-4  great faith and trust in the future when they were married in the
    1-5  Gause Methodist Church, and they have been amply rewarded as they
    1-6  recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably throughout
    1-8  their marriage yet Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong have steadfastly embraced
    1-9  traditional family and moral values; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Over the years, Lela Mae Neely and Jake Armstrong
   1-11  have grown stronger in their love and devotion as together they
   1-12  have experienced the joys and sorrows of everyday living; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong have been blessed with a
   1-14  wonderful family:  their children, Johnnie B. and Bonnie; their
   1-15  grandchildren, Lee, Mae Marie, and Kevin; and their
   1-16  great-grandchildren, Brody and Kylie; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong shared their happiness with
   1-18  their family and friends at a barbecue hosted by their children
   1-19  on April 4, 1993, at their country home; now, therefore, be it
   1-20        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-21  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to
   1-22  Mr. and Mrs. John C. "Jake" Armstrong on their golden wedding
   1-23  anniversary; and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-2  this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in
    2-3  their lives.
