    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                          Preston Nobles, Sr.
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  family and many friends of Preston Nobles, Sr., in mourning the
    1-7  death of this well-known municipal court judge on April 19, 1993;
    1-8  and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Preston Nobles was born on September 8, 1921, the
   1-10  son of Emma Mitchell and Hiram Solomon Nobles; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, A patriotic and courageous man, Judge Nobles served
   1-12  honorably in the United States Army Medical Corps from 1940 until
   1-13  1947; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A respected businessman, Mr. Nobles had owned
   1-15  and operated Nobles Auto Supply in Waller and Anderson for over
   1-16  40 years; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mr. Nobles had been an active
   1-18  supporter of the First Baptist Church, serving as a deacon for
   1-19  30 years; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, This well-loved citizen was a lifelong resident
   1-21  of Grimes County; his death was an enormous loss to his associates
   1-22  in law enforcement and municipal affairs; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Outgoing and charming, Mr. Nobles enjoyed
    2-1  socializing with his fellow citizens, and he was a member of
    2-2  Navasota Masonic Lodge Number 299; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, His wise counsel and good judgment will be greatly
    2-4  missed and gratefully remembered by those whose lives he touched;
    2-5  and
    2-6        WHEREAS, Judge Nobles was selected unanimously by the
    2-7  city council on June 27, 1990, to fill the post of municipal
    2-8  magistrate; lauded for his excellent performance of his duties,
    2-9  Preston Nobles was reappointed for a new two-year term on
   2-10  June 8, 1992; and
   2-11        WHEREAS, A man of high principles and integrity, his
   2-12  passing is mourned by all who knew him; now, therefore, be it
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-14  73rd Legislature, hereby extend heartfelt condolences to
   2-15  the members of his family:  his wife, Gertrude; his son,
   2-16  Preston "Skip" Nobles, Jr.; his brother and sister-in-law,
   2-17  Chester and Dora Jean Nobles; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law,
   2-18  Ethlee and Paul Hubble; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law,
   2-19  Billie and Cecil Mask; and, be it further
   2-20        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-21  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-22  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-23  in memory of Preston Nobles, Sr.
