    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure
    1-3  in recognizing the Reverend Walter J. Miller, pastor of Saint John
    1-4  Lutheran Church in Thorndale, Texas, for his 30 years of devoted
    1-5  service to his congregation; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The Reverend Mr. Miller retired on
    1-7  April 25, 1993, to assume the position of associate pastor at
    1-8  Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Giddings on May 1; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The esteemed pastor and his wife, Mary, came to
   1-10  Saint John Lutheran Church in February, 1963, and the beloved
   1-11  couple has earned the respect and friendship of all whose lives
   1-12  they have touched; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Through the years, Reverend Mr. Miller has dedicated
   1-14  his life to ministering to the needs of those who came to him with
   1-15  their concerns; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, His leadership and spiritual guidance have been
   1-17  the source of hope and inspiration to the community; now, therefore,
   1-18  be it
   1-19        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-20  73rd Legislature, hereby commend the Reverend Walter J. Miller for
   1-21  his notable contributions to the lives of his congregation and to
   1-22  the citizens of Thorndale and extend best wishes to him in his
   1-23  new endeavors; and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this
    2-2  distinguished minister as an expression of the high regard of the
    2-3  Texas Senate.
