No. 1182 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, Irene Lopez recently retired as a deputy district 1-3 clerk in the Brazos County Courthouse after a career that spanned 1-4 almost 40 years, and the quality and longevity of her service is 1-5 truly worthy of legislative recognition; and 1-6 WHEREAS, During the period of her employment that began 1-7 June 1, 1953, Irene Lopez displayed diligence and ability in her 1-8 various duties that benefitted not only her employers but also the 1-9 many employees who worked alongside her; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Her untiring efforts, willingness to help, and 1-11 pleasant demeanor will be missed by all who knew her and valued her 1-12 friendship in the Brazos County Courthouse; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lopez worked for the county attorney, district 1-14 attorney, county judge, and sheriff during her long tenure and 1-15 earned the nickname "Momma Irene" for her compassion, caring, 1-16 and helpfulness; and 1-17 WHEREAS, A mother of four grown children, Mrs. Lopez is 1-18 looking forward to spending time with her family and at her home 1-19 in Benchley in "the woods"; now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-21 73rd Legislature, hereby join with the citizens of Brazos County 1-22 in expressing sincere appreciation to Irene Lopez for her years of 1-23 dedicated service to the people of Texas; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-2 as a memento of her loyal service and as an expression of best 2-3 wishes from the Texas Senate for many happy, rewarding years 2-4 of retirement. 2-5 _____________________________________ 2-6 President of the Senate 2-7 I hereby certify that the 2-8 above Resolution was adopted by 2-9 the Senate on May 30, 1993. 2-10 _____________________________________ 2-11 Secretary of the Senate 2-12 _____________________________________ 2-13 Member, Texas Senate
