    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                          Marionette M. Beyah
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the family
    1-6  and many friends of Marionette M. Beyah in mourning her untimely
    1-7  death on May 5, 1993, in Galveston; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born on August 26, 1947, in Wilmington, Delaware,
    1-9  Mrs. Beyah was an instructor at Galveston College; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, She had been a resident of Galveston for 13 years
   1-11  and had been active in civic affairs, serving on many community and
   1-12  children's boards as well as being a member of several neighborhood
   1-13  organizations; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Well known for her kindness and generosity,
   1-15  Mrs. Beyah believed that one person could make a difference in other
   1-16  people's lives and she acted on her beliefs; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Her wise counsel and good judgment will be greatly
   1-18  missed and remembered with gratitude by those whose lives she
   1-19  touched; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, she practiced her faith every
   1-21  day of her life; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Due to her wisdom, expertise, and concern for
   1-23  others, Marionette Beyah had a positive influence on the lives
    2-1  of innumerable Texans; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, During her lifetime she established a permanent
    2-3  place for herself in the hearts of those who lived and worked
    2-4  with her; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  73rd Legislature, hereby commend and commemorate the life of
    2-7  service of Mrs. Marionette M. Beyah and extend sincere condolences
    2-8  to the members of her family:  her sister, Andrey Roy; her brother,
    2-9  Alvin G. Edwards; her sister-in-law, Sydilla Edwards; her
   2-10  brother-in-law, Haywood D. Roy, Jr.; her godmother,
   2-11  Anna Mae Tolliver; her aunt, Beatrice Anderson; and her nine nieces
   2-12  and nine nephews; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-14  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
   2-15  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
   2-16  it do so in memory of Marionette M. Beyah.
