No. 1202 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-1 BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Texas, That Rule 1-2 12.03, Rules of the Senate, 73rd Legislature, is suspended as 1-3 provided by Senate Rule 12.08, to the extent described in this 1-4 resolution, to enable the conference committee appointed to adjust 1-5 the differences between the House and Senate versions of 1-6 S.B. No. 498, relating to the continuation, operations, and 1-7 functions of the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the Office 1-8 of Public Utility Counsel, to successfully conclude the committee's 1-9 deliberations, by authorizing the conferees to consider and take 1-10 action of the following specific matters: 1-11 (1) Senate Rules 12.03(1) through (4) are suspended to 1-12 permit the committee to change, omit, and add language as necessary 1-13 to provide for the creation, operation, and functions of separate 1-14 electric and telecommunications divisions of the Public Utility 1-15 Commission of Texas. 1-16 Explanation: This change is needed to allow independent 1-17 regulation of electric and telecommunications utilities. 1-18 (2) Senate Rules 12.03(1) through (4) are suspended to 1-19 permit the committee to change, omit, and add language as necessary 1-20 to realign the powers and duties of the general counsel of the 1-21 Public Utility Commission of Texas in a manner consistent with the 1-22 operations of separate electric and telecommunications divisions. 1-23 Explanation: This change is necessary to clarify the powers 1-24 and duties of the general counsel in regard to each of the 2-1 divisions to be created. 2-2 (3) Senate Rules 12.03(1) through (4) are suspended to 2-3 permit the committee to change, omit, and add language as necessary 2-4 to provide for the regulation of electric utilities in a manner 2-5 consistent with current law. 2-6 Explanation: This change is necessary to modify the 2-7 regulation of electric utilities. 2-8 _____________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the 2-11 above Resolution was adopted by 2-12 the Senate on May 31, 1993. 2-13 _____________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate
