                              Senate Committee Report (Unamended)
BACKGROUND

Currently, school buses may not exceed 50 miles per hour on
interstate highways. The normal flow of traffic on interstate
highways is at least 55 miles per hour.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 321 increases the legal speed limit for school
buses on highways from 50 miles per hour to 55 miles per hour.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or
agency.
