Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND

The Board of Directors of the Sweeny Hospital District request that
the filing date for office of Director be in compliance with §
144.005, subsection (a), of the Election Code of the State of
Texas. At the present time, the last day to file for the hospital
director is 25 days before the May general election.

PURPOSE

HB 335 will allow the Sweeny Hospital District to have the same
filing deadline as other entities in Brazoria County, which is 45
days before the May general election.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or
agency.
