                              Senate Committee Report (Unamended)
BACKGROUND

The board of directors of the Sweeny Hospital District request that
the filing date for the office of director be in compliance with
Section 144.005(a), Election Code. Currently, the last day to file
for the position of hospital director is 25 days before the May
general election.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 335 amends provisions relating to the period for
filing a petition for a place on the ballot for the board of
directors of the Sweeny Hospital District.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or
agency.
