                              Senate Committee Report (Unamended)
BACKGROUND

Under current law, service providers of address databases used in
providing 9-1-1 services are not immune from liability for
providing 9-1-1 service.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 1293 provides that a service provider of an
addressing system or address database used in providing 9-1-1
service, or an officer or employee of a service provider described
by this subsection involved in providing 9-1-1 service, is not
liable for any claim, damage, or loss arising from the provision of
9-1-1 service.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or
agency.
