H.B. 1381

Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND
Ballots for the election of the members of the board of directors
of the Van Zandt County Waste Disposal District are printed 45 days
prior to the election of the board of directors. Currently, a
prospective candidate must file a petition 30 days prior to the
election. The 30 day allotment is not sufficient time to have the
ballots printed; therefore, Section 3.04(b), Chapter 1256, Acts of
the 71st Legislature, Regular Session, 1989, is amended by
extending the filing deadline to 60 days before the election.

PURPOSE
To require a prospective candidate for director to file his
petition 60 days prior to the election.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly
grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer,
department, agency, or institution.
