BACKGROUND

Currently, a person holding the office of sheriff is not required

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 1650 requires a person to complete the training
required for licensing as a peace officer prior to holding the
office of sheriff.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or
agency.
