Senate Committee Report (Unamended)
BACKGROUND
The House Committee on Agriculture and Wildlife Management learned
during its 1994 review of state agency reports that the Parks and
Wildlife Department is required to file many reports for the
legislative and executive branches of state government. These
reports contain information that is generally not utilized so the
committee recommended that the department be relieved of the duty
to publish many of these reports, including the Salt Water Finfish
Report which was initiated when the legislature was more directly
involved in the state's coastal finfish resources.
PURPOSE
As proposed, H.B. 1956 deletes language requiring the Parks and
Wildlife Department to issue a report based on continuous finfish
research done by the department.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or
agency.
