                                Senate Committee Report (Amended)
BACKGROUND

Chapter 43, Local Government Code, is entitled "Municipal
Annexation" and contains the general authority and procedures for
cities to annex property, special districts, special types of
property, disannexation, and for limited purposes. Chapter 43G,
Local Government Code, contains the provisions regulating
disannexation. Subchapter G contains no provisions regulating the
width of property disannexed by a city.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 2069 requires cities disannexing a road or
highway to disannex a strip along a roadway or highway.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or
agency.
