BILL ANALYSIS H.B. 2687 By: Turner, Sylvester 04-12-95 Committee Report (Unamended) BACKGROUND The Board of Trustees is entrusted with the general administration, management and responsibility for the operation of the Pension System, and are required to serve without compensation. The salaries of the elected trustees (active police officers) conducting official pension business are paid by the city as though they were performing their regular police duties. PURPOSE Permit the pension fund to reimburse the city for the salaries of elected trustees who are attending to official business of the Pension System. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1: Amends Section 4(a), Police Officers' Pension System in cities of 1,200,000 or more, Article 6243g-1, V.T.C.S. by adding language to allow the pension fund to reimburse the city for the salaries of elected trustees who are conducting official pension business on city time.
