                              Senate Committee Report (Unamended)
BACKGROUND

The Montgomery County Hospital District (district) was created in
1977. The legislature exempted physicians from the board of
directors of the district. The present board and many members of
the district are requesting that this restriction be removed.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 3198 deletes a provision restricting certain
physicians from serving as a director of the board of the
Montgomery County Hospital District.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or
agency.
