Committee Report (Unamended)
BACKGROUND
In an effort to streamline county government, the commissioners
court of Titus County has reexamined the function of some county
offices. Abolishing the office of county treasurer and
transferring the duties to the county clerk will save the county
$25,000 per year.
PURPOSE
As proposed, S.J.R. 23 requires the submission to the voters of a
constitutional amendment abolishing the office of county treasurer
in Titus County.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or
agency.
