                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the requirement that certain child support payments be
    1-3  forwarded by electronic funds transfer.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 14.0502(b), Family Code, is amended to
    1-6  read as follows:
    1-7        (b)  A local registry may transmit child support payments to
    1-8  the attorney general by electronic funds transfer if the attorney
    1-9  general agrees to accept electronic payment.  A local registry in a
   1-10  county having a population of 30,000 or more shall transmit a child
   1-11  support payment to an obligee by electronic funds transfer if the
   1-12  obligee maintains a bank account.
   1-13        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1995.
   1-14        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-15  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-16  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-17  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-18  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
