                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the fee for special license plates for certain
    1-3  veterans.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 5k(f), Chapter 88, General Laws, Acts of
    1-6  the 41st Legislature, 2nd Called Session, 1929 (Article 6675a-5k,
    1-7  Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to read as follows:
    1-8        (f)  The fee for issuance of special license plates under
    1-9  this section, other than license plates depicting the capitol,
   1-10  <Purple Heart license plates, and Pearl Harbor license plates, is
   1-11  $10 a year.  The fee for Purple Heart license plates and Pearl
   1-12  Harbor license plates> is $3 a year.  The fee for license plates
   1-13  depicting the capitol is $30 a year.  Except as provided by
   1-14  Subsection (g) of this section, a fee imposed under this subsection
   1-15  is in addition to the motor vehicle registration fee imposed by
   1-16  Section 5 of this Act, and if personalized prestige license plates
   1-17  are issued, in addition to the fee imposed by Section 5c of this
   1-18  Act.
   1-19        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1995, and
   1-20  applies only to a special license plate fee for a registration
   1-21  period beginning on or after that date.
   1-22        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-23  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-24  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
    2-1  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-2  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
