                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the creation of a judicial district composed of Ellis
    1-3  County.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
    1-6  amended by adding Section 24.523 to read as follows:
    1-7        Sec. 24.523.  378TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (ELLIS COUNTY).  The
    1-8  378th Judicial District is composed of Ellis County.
    1-9        SECTION 2.  The 378th Judicial District is created and this
   1-10  Act takes effect September 1, 1995.
   1-11        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-12  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-13  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-14  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-15  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
   1-16                       COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO. 1
   1-17        Amend House Bill 273 on page 1 by striking lines 7 and 8 and
   1-18  substituting the following:
   1-19        Sec. 24.523.  378TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (ELLIS COUNTY).  (a)
   1-20  The 378th Judicial District is composed of Ellis County.
   1-21        (b)  A judge of the 378th Judicial District may not be
   1-22  assigned under Chapter 74 to serve as a visiting judge in Bexar,
   1-23  Dallas, Ector, Fort Bend, Harris, Jefferson, Lubbock, Midland,
   1-24  Tarrant, or Travis County.
