    1-7  COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO. 1                                By:  Ellis
    1-8  Amend HB 742 as follows:
    1-9  In Subsection (g) add
   1-10  "in a municipality with a population of 1.5 million or more" after
   1-11  the word "unit".
   1-12                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   1-13                                AN ACT
   1-14  relating to the resale of certain land acquired by a political
   1-15  subdivision.
   1-16        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-17        SECTION 1.  Section 34.05, Tax Code, is amended by adding
   1-18  Subsection (g) to read as follows:
   1-19        (g)  Sections 263.001 and 272.001(a), Local Government Code,
   1-20  do not apply to property sold by a taxing unit under this section.
   1-21        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-22  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-23  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-24  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-25  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
