    1-6                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-7                                AN ACT
    1-8  relating to securing a hospital lien.
    1-9        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-10        SECTION 1.  Section 55.005(a), Property Code, is amended to
   1-11  read as follows:
   1-12        (a)  To secure the lien, a hospital must file written notice
   1-13  of the lien with the county clerk of the county in which the
   1-14  hospital services were provided <injury occurred>.  The notice must
   1-15  be filed before money is paid to an entitled person because of the
   1-16  injury.
   1-17        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-18  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-19  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-20  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-21  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
