1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 209.041, Labor Code, is amended to read
    1-5 as follows:
1-6 Sec. 209.041. ELIGIBILITY FOR EXTENDED BENEFITS. An
1-7 individual is eligible to receive extended benefits for a benefit
1-8 period of unemployment in the individual's eligibility period if,
1-9 with respect to the benefit period, the individual:

1-14 disqualified for the receipt of benefits; and
1-15 (3) has within the individual's base period received
1-16 benefit wage credits for employment by employers in an amount not

   1-18 (A) 40 times the individual's weekly benefit
   1-19 amount; or
   1-20 (B) 1-1/2 times the individual's high-quarter
   1-21 benefit wage credits.
1-22 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-23 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-24 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-1 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-2 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
2-3 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
2-4 passage, and it is so enacted.
