                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the availability under the open records law of
    1-3  schoolteacher evaluations.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 552, Government Code, is
    1-6  amended by adding Section 552.124 to read as follows:
    1-7        Sec. 552.124.  EXCEPTION:  TEACHER EVALUATIONS.  (a)  An
    1-8  evaluation by a school district of the performance of a teacher
    1-9  employed by the district is excepted from the requirements of
   1-10  Section 552.021.
   1-11        (b)  In this section, "school district" means any public
   1-12  school district in this state and includes an independent school
   1-13  district, common school district, community college district,
   1-14  junior college district, or regional college district.
   1-15        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-16  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-17  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-18  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-19  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-20  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-21  passage, and it is so enacted.
