No. 1145 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to provisional certification of certain emergency medical 1-3 personnel. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 773, Health and Safety 1-6 Code, is amended by adding Section 773.0551 to read as follows: 1-7 Sec. 773.0551. PROVISIONAL CERTIFICATE. (a) The department 1-8 may issue a provisional certificate to a person who: 1-9 (1) has not taken the examination for certification; 1-10 and 1-11 (2) possesses the qualifications for provisional 1-12 certification required by rules adopted by the board. 1-13 (b) A person who holds a provisional certificate may only 1-14 provide emergency medical services permitted under rules adopted by 1-15 the board. 1-16 (c) A provisional certificate is valid until the earlier of: 1-17 (1) the date on which the holder receives a 1-18 certificate under Section 773.055(e); or 1-19 (2) the date on which the holder receives notice of 1-20 failure of the holder's examination for certification. 1-21 SECTION 2. (a) This Act takes effect September 1, 1995. 1-22 (b) The Texas Board of Health shall adopt rules under this 1-23 Act not later than December 31, 1995. 1-24 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 2-1 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 2-2 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 2-3 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 2-4 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
