                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to an integrated pest management program for day-care
    1-3  centers and nursing homes.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 4J (d), Texas Structural Pest Control Act
    1-6  (Article 135b-6, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to read
    1-7  as follows:
    1-8        (d)  The board shall include in standards adopted under this
    1-9  section:
   1-10              (1)  a requirement that the least hazardous <toxic>
   1-11  methods available to control pests, rodents, insects, and weeds be
   1-12  used; and
   1-13              (2)  a list of products that a school district is
   1-14  allowed to use in its applications.
   1-15        SECTION 2.  Section 4J, Texas Structural Pest Control Act
   1-16  (Article 135b-6, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended by
   1-17  adding subsection (f) to read as follows:
   1-18        (f)  The Board shall adopt standards for integrated pest
   1-19  management in day-care centers and nursing homes consistent with
   1-20  those in Section 4J (a) and (d).  Standards adopted for day-care
   1-21  centers shall also be consistent with Section 4J (e).  Each
   1-22  day-care center and nursing home shall comply with standards
   1-23  adopted by the board under this subsection by September 1, 1996.
    2-1        SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1995.
    2-2        SECTION 4.  The importance of this legislation and the
    2-3  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
    2-4  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
    2-5  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-6  days in each house be suspen1ded, and this rule is hereby
    2-7  suspended.
