A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the county courts at law of Collin County.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 25.0451, Government Code, is amended to
1-5 read as follows:
1-6 Sec. 25.0451. Collin County. Collin County has the
1-7 following statutory county courts:
1-8 (1) County Court at Law No. 1 of Collin County;
1-9 (2) County Court at Law No. 2 of Collin County; <and>
1-10 (3) County Court at Law No. 3 of Collin County; and
1-11 (4) County Court at Law No. 4 of Collin County.
1-12 SECTION 2. Section 25.0452, Government Code, is amended by
1-13 adding Subsection (a) to read as follows:
1-14 (a) In addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section
1-15 25.0003 and other law, a county court at law in Collin County has
1-16 the probate jurisdiction provided by Section 25.0021 for statutory
1-17 probate courts.
1-18 SECTION 3. Notwithstanding Section 25.0451(4), Government
1-19 Code, as added by this Act, the County Court at Law No. 4 of Collin
1-20 County is created October 1, 1995, or on an earlier date determined
1-21 by the commissioners court by an order entered in its minutes.
1-22 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 1995.
1-23 SECTION 5. The importance of this legislation and the
1-24 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-1 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-2 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-3 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
2-4 COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO. 1
2-5 (1) Amend House Bill 1481, on page 1, line 13 by striking
2-6 "Subsection (a)" and substituting "Subsections (a) and (b)".
2-7 (2) Amend House Bill 1481, on page 1, between lines 17 and
2-8 18, by inserting the following:
2-9 (b) A person sitting in the capacity of a judge in County
2-10 Court at Law No. 4 of Collin County may not sit as an assigned
2-11 judge in Bexar, Dallas, Ector, Fort Bend, Harris, Jefferson,
2-12 Lubbock, Midland, Tarrant, or Travis County.
