    1-9  Amend the House Engrossment of H.B. 1612 as follows:
   1-10        On page 1, line 8, after the word "within" and before the
   1-11  word "a" insert the word "either".
   1-12                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   1-13                                AN ACT
   1-14  relating to the application to religious facilities of the law
   1-15  relating to architectural barriers.
   1-16        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-17        SECTION 1.  Section 2, Article 9102, Revised Statutes, is
   1-18  amended by adding Subsection (g) to read as follows:
   1-19        (g)  The standards adopted under this article do not apply to
   1-20  a place used primarily for religious rituals within a building or
   1-21  facility of a religious organization.
   1-22        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-23  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-24  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-25  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-26  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-27  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-28  passage, and it is so enacted.
