                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to tuberculosis screening for certain employees of the
    1-3  Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 501.059, Government Code, as added by
    1-6  Section 2, Chapter 786, Acts of the 73rd Legislature, 1993, is
    1-7  redesignated as Section 501.060 and amended to read as follows:
    1-8        Sec. 501.060 <501.059>.  TUBERCULOSIS SCREENING.  (a) The
    1-9  board will establish requirements for tuberculosis screening of
   1-10  department employees and volunteers in a manner similar to that
   1-11  established for jail employees and volunteers as outlined in
   1-12  Subchapter B, Chapter 89, Health and Safety Code.
   1-13        (b)  The institutional division shall provide tuberculosis
   1-14  screening for an employee of the institutional division who
   1-15  requests the screening.
   1-16        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-17  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-18  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-19  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-20  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-21  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-22  passage, and it is so enacted.
