                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the regulation of drinking water at youth camps.
    1-3        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 341, Health and Safety
    1-5  Code, is amended by adding Section 341.051 to read as follows:
    1-6        Sec. 341.051.  WATER SUPPLIES AT YOUTH CAMPS.  (a)  This
    1-7  subchapter does not apply to drinking water supplied by a youth
    1-8  camp to staff and campers at the camp and their visitors.
    1-9        (b)  The Texas Department of Health shall regulate the water
   1-10  supply at a youth camp as provided by Section 141.009 and rules
   1-11  adopted by the Texas Board of Health under that section.  Those
   1-12  rules must comply with the federal Safe Water Drinking Act (42
   1-13  U.S.C. Section 300f et seq.).
   1-14        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-15  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-16  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-17  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-18  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-19  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-20  passage, and it is so enacted.
