                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to requiring immunization for hepatitis B of certain
    1-3 students.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 2.09(a), Education Code, is amended to
    1-6 read as follows:
1-7 (a) No person may be admitted to any elementary or secondary
1-8 school unless he has been fully immunized against diphtheria,
1-9 rubeola, rubella, mumps, tetanus, hepatitis B, and poliomyelitis,
1-10 except as provided in Subsection (c).
1-11 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-12 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-13 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-14 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-15 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-16 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-17 passage, and it is so enacted.
   1-18 COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO. 1
   1-19 1. Amend H.B. 1745 as follows:
1-20 SECTION 2. Immunization against hepatitis B is not required
1-21 until a date specified in rules adopted by the Texas Board of
1-22 Health. The rules may stagger the implementation of the
1-23 requirement for immunization against hepatitis B as added by
   1-24 Section 1.
2-1 2. Renumber existing Section 2 of the bill to become Section 3.
