    1-7                                AN ACT
    1-8  relating to the compensation of the directors of the Gulf Coast
    1-9  Waste Disposal Authority.
   1-10        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-11        SECTION 1.  Section 2.10, Chapter 409, Acts of the 61st
   1-12  Legislature, Regular Session, 1969, is amended to read as follows:
   1-13        Sec. 2.10.  Director's Compensation.  <(a)>  A director is
   1-14  entitled to receive an allowance of $100 a day and reimbursement
   1-15  for actual and necessary expenses incurred for each day the
   1-16  director spends:
   1-17              (1)  <for each day he spends> attending meetings of the
   1-18  board; or <and>
   1-19              (2)  <for each day he spends> attending to the business
   1-20  of the authority which is authorized by a resolution of the board.
   1-21        <(b)  A director is not entitled to receive a per diem
   1-22  allowance for more than 48 days in any one calendar year.>
   1-23        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-24  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-25  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-26  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-27  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-28  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-29  passage, and it is so enacted.
