                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to sunsetting the involvement of the attorney general's
1-3 office in matters related to child support.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Chapter 76, Human Resources Code, is amended by
1-6 adding Section 76.0011 to read as follows:
1-7 Sec. 76.0011. SUNSET REVIEW OF ATTORNEY GENERAL'S CHILD
1-8 SUPPORT DUTIES. (a) The involvement of the attorney general's
1-9 office in matters related to child support is subject to Chapter
1-10 325, Government Code (Texas Sunset Act), as if the attorney
1-11 general's involvement in matters related to child support were a
1-12 state agency subject to review under that chapter. Unless
1-13 continued in existence as provided by that chapter, the attorney
1-14 general's involvement in matters related to child support is
1-15 terminated and this chapter expires September 1, 1997.
1-16 (b) To the extent Chapter 325, Government Code (Texas Sunset
1-17 Act), imposes a duty on a state agency under review, the attorney
1-18 general's office shall perform the duty as it applies to the
1-19 attorney general's involvement in matters related to child support.
1-20 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1995.
1-21 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-22 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-23 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-24 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-1 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
