                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to municipal court proceedings in a municipality
    1-3  participating with another municipality in a joint police
    1-4  department contract.
    1-5        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-6        SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 29, Government Code, is
    1-7  amended by adding Section 29.105 to read as follows:
    1-8        Sec. 29.105.  MUNICIPAL COURT PROCEEDINGS IN MUNICIPALITY
    1-9  PARTICIPATING IN POLICE DEPARTMENT CONTRACT.  The municipal court
   1-10  of a municipality that contracts with one or more municipalities
   1-11  for the operation of a joint police department may conduct its
   1-12  proceedings within the municipal limits of any municipality that is
   1-13  a party to the contract.
   1-14        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-15  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-16  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-17  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-18  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-19  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-20  passage, and it is so enacted.
   1-21                       COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO. 1
   1-22        Amend House Bill 2405 by striking lines 8 through 13 on page
   1-23  1 and substituting the following:
   1-24        Sec. 29.105.  MUNICIPAL COURT PROCEEDINGS IN MUNICIPALITY
    2-1  PARTICIPATING IN POLICE DEPARTMENT CONTRACT.  A municipality that
    2-2  contracts with one or more municipalities for the operation of a
    2-3  joint police department may conduct its municipal court proceedings
    2-4  within the municipal limits of any municipality that is a party to
    2-5  the contract.
