A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to bonds issued for The University of Texas Health Science
1-3 Center at Houston.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 55.1714, Education Code, is amended by
1-6 amending subsection (a) to read as follows:
1-7 (a) In addition to the authority granted by Sections 55.13,
1-8 55.14, 55.17, 55.172, and 55.19 of this code, the board of regents
1-9 of The University of Texas System may acquire, purchase, construct,
1-10 improve, renovate, enlarge, or equip property, buildings,
1-11 structures, facilities, roads, or related infrastructure for the
1-12 following institutions to be financed by the issuance of bonds in
1-13 accordance with this subchapter, including bonds issued in
1-14 accordance with its systemwide revenue financing program and
1-15 secured as provided by that program, in aggregate principal amounts
1-16 not to exceed the following amounts:
1-17 (1) The University of Texas at Brownsville, $23.5
1-18 million;
1-19 (2) The University of Texas at El Paso, $23 million;
1-20 (3) The University of Texas--Pan American, $26
1-21 million;
1-22 (4) The University of Texas at San Antonio, $63.5
1-23 million;
2-1 (5) The University of Texas Health Science Center at
2-2 San Antonio, $25 million; <and>
2-3 (6) The University of Texas at Austin, $2 million; and
2-4 (7) The University of Texas Health Science Center at
2-5 Houston, $25 million.
2-6 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
2-7 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-8 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-9 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-10 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
2-11 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
2-12 passage, and it is so enacted.
