                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to county law library fees charged in cases filed in
    1-3  justice court.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 323.023(a), Local Government Code, is
    1-6  amended to read as follows:
    1-7        (a)  A sum set by the commissioners court not to exceed $20
    1-8  shall be taxed, collected, and paid as other costs in each civil
    1-9  case filed in a county or district court, except suits for
   1-10  delinquent taxes.  A sum set by the commissioners court not to
   1-11  exceed $10 shall be taxed, collected, and paid as other costs in
   1-12  each civil case filed in a justice court.  The county is not liable
   1-13  for the costs.
   1-14        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-15  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-16  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-17  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-18  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-19  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-20  passage, and it is so enacted.

   1-23        1.  On page 1, line 7, after the word "A" and before the word
   1-24  "set", strike "sum" and substitute "fee"
