    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to administration of and adoption of rules by retirement
    1-3  systems for police officers in certain municipalities.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 4, Chapter 76, Acts of the 50th
    1-6  Legislature, 1947 (Article 6243g-1, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes),
    1-7  is amended by adding Subsection (k) to read as follows:
    1-8        (k)  The Pension Board shall, to the extent applicable,
    1-9  administer the Pension System consistent with the applicable
   1-10  sections of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended.
   1-11        SECTION 2.  Section 4, Chapter 76, Acts of the 50th
   1-12  Legislature, 1947 (Article 6243g-1, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes),
   1-13  is amended by adding Subsection (l) to read as follows:
   1-14        (l)  The Pension Board is hereby vested with the power to
   1-15  adopt for the administration of the Pension System written rules
   1-16  and guidelines consistent with this Act, including, but not limited
   1-17  to, adoption of written provisions incorporating applicable
   1-18  Internal Revenue Code regulations and rulings thereunder applicable
   1-19  to governmental plans.
   1-20        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-21  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-22  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-23  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-24  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
