                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to administration of and adoption of rules by retirement
    1-3  systems for police officers in certain municipalities.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Chapter 76, Acts of the 50th Legislature, 1947
    1-6  (Article 6243g-1, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended by
    1-7  adding Section 4(k) to read as follows:
    1-8        Sec. 4.  (k)  The Pension Board shall, to the extent
    1-9  applicable, administer the Pension System consistent with the
   1-10  applicable sections of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as
   1-11  amended.
   1-12        SECTION 2.  Chapter 76, Acts of the 50th Legislature, 1947
   1-13  (Article 6243g-1, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended by
   1-14  adding Section 4(l) to read as follows:
   1-15        Sec. 4.  (l)  The Pension Board is hereby vested with the
   1-16  power to adopt for the administration of the Pension System written
   1-17  rules and guidelines consistent with this Article, including, but
   1-18  not limited to, adoption of written provisions incorporating
   1-19  applicable Internal Revenue Code Regulations and Rulings thereunder
   1-20  applicable to Governmental Plans.
   1-21        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-22  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-23  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-24  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-1  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
