No. 2686 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 8, 1995; 1-3 May 9, 1995, read first time and referred to Committee on 1-4 Intergovernmental Relations; May 17, 1995, reported favorably by 1-5 the following vote: Yeas 10, Nays 0; May 17, 1995, sent to 1-6 printer.) 1-7 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-8 AN ACT 1-9 relating to administration of and adoption of rules by retirement 1-10 systems for police officers in certain municipalities. 1-11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-12 SECTION 1. Section 4, Chapter 76, Acts of the 50th 1-13 Legislature, 1947 (Article 6243g-1, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), 1-14 is amended by adding Subsection (k) to read as follows: 1-15 (k) The Pension Board shall, to the extent applicable, 1-16 administer the Pension System consistent with the applicable 1-17 sections of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended. 1-18 SECTION 2. Section 4, Chapter 76, Acts of the 50th 1-19 Legislature, 1947 (Article 6243g-1, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), 1-20 is amended by adding Subsection (l) to read as follows: 1-21 (l) The Pension Board is hereby vested with the power to 1-22 adopt for the administration of the Pension System written rules 1-23 and guidelines consistent with this Act, including, but not limited 1-24 to, adoption of written provisions incorporating applicable 1-25 Internal Revenue Code regulations and rulings thereunder applicable 1-26 to governmental plans. 1-27 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-28 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-29 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-30 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-31 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended. 1-32 * * * * *
