A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to penalties for a violation of this act.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. The Texas Insurance Code, Chapter 21, Subchapter
1-5 A, Article 21.07-2, Section 7, Acts 1951, 52nd Legislature, Chapter
1-6 491 is amended to read as follows:
1-7 Sec. 7. Any person who shall act as a Life Insurance
1-8 Counselor, as defined herein, without having first obtained a
1-9 license as herein provided, or who violates any of the provisions
1-10 of this Act shall be guilty of a Class C misdemeanor and, upon
1-11 conviction, shall be fined not more than Five Hundred Dollars
1-12 ($500), <or imprisoned not more than six months>, <or both,> each such
1-13 violation being a separate offense hereunder. In addition, if such
1-14 offender holds a license hereunder, such license shall
1-15 automatically expire upon such conviction and the offender shall be
1-16 barred from license for a period of at least two (2) years.
1-17 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-18 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-19 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-20 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-21 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-22 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-23 passage, and it is so enacted.
