    1-6                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-7                                AN ACT
    1-8  relating to fees charged by and to records retained by certain law
    1-9  enforcement agencies for fingerprinting.
   1-10        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-11        SECTION 1.  Section 80.001(b), Human Resources Code, is
   1-12  amended to read as follows:
   1-13        (b)  A law enforcement agency may <not> charge a fee not to
   1-14  exceed $10 for the service provided under this section and may
   1-15  <not> retain records of fingerprints made under this section
   1-16  <unless specifically requested to do so by the person requesting
   1-17  the service>.
   1-18        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1995.
   1-19        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-20  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-21  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-22  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-23  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
