                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to classification of positions in the county sheriffs
    1-3  department and reimbursement of certain expenses.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Chapter 152.071(a), Local Government Code, is
    1-6  amended to read as follows:
    1-7        In a county with a population of more than 75,000, the
    1-8  <county government> sheriff shall classify all positions in its
    1-9  sheriff's department and the county government shall specify the
   1-10  duties and prescribe the salary for each classification.
   1-11        SECTION 2.  Chapter 152.075(b), Local Government Code, is
   1-12  amended to read as follows:
   1-13        (b)  The commissioner's court may reimburse a reserve deputy
   1-14  sheriff or regular deputy sheriff for reasonable and necessary
   1-15  expenses incurred in the performance of official duty.
