                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the review and continuation of certain state agencies
    1-3  subject to the Texas Sunset Act.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5                       ARTICLE 1.  1997 AGENCIES
    1-6        SECTION 1.01.  Section 461.004, Health and Safety Code, is
    1-7  amended to read as follows:
    1-8        Sec. 461.004.  Application of Sunset Act.  The Texas
    1-9  Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse is subject to Chapter 325,
   1-10  Government Code (Texas Sunset Act).  Unless continued in existence
   1-11  as provided by that chapter, the commission is abolished and this
   1-12  chapter expires September 1, 1997 <1999>.
   1-13        SECTION 1.02.  Section 141.012, Human Resources Code, is
   1-14  amended to read as follows:
   1-15        Sec. 141.012.  Sunset Provision.  The Texas Juvenile
   1-16  Probation Commission is subject to Chapter 325, Government Code
   1-17  (Texas Sunset Act).  Unless continued in existence as provided by
   1-18  that chapter, the commission is abolished and this chapter expires
   1-19  September 1, 1997 <1999>.
   1-20        SECTION 1.03.  Section 8, Article 4413(503), Revised
   1-21  Statutes, is amended to read as follows:
   1-22        Sec. 8.  Sunset Provision.  The Department of Protective and
   1-23  Regulatory Services is subject to Chapter 325, Government Code
    2-1  (Texas Sunset Act).  Unless continued in existence as provided by
    2-2  that chapter, the department is abolished and this article expires
    2-3  September 1, 1997 <1999>.
    2-4        SECTION 1.04.  Section 61.020, Human Resources Code, is
    2-5  amended to read as follows:
    2-6        Sec. 61.020.  Sunset Provision.  The Texas Youth Commission
    2-7  is subject to Chapter 325, Government Code (Texas Sunset Act).
    2-8  Unless continued in existence as provided by that chapter, the
    2-9  commission is abolished and this chapter expires September 1, 1997
   2-10  <1999>.
   2-11                 ARTICLE 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE; EMERGENCY
   2-12        SECTION 2.01.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1995.
   2-13        SECTION 2.02.  The importance of this legislation and the
   2-14  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   2-15  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   2-16  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   2-17  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
